PC Tips and Reviews

Welcome to the Windows Operating Systems page. Here you can see my reviews of the 3 operating systems I have used during the past few years. I had some great experiences when using them but there were some features that came in Windows 10 which I wanted to be included in the previous versions of Windows. In this section of reviews I will mostly talk about what’s good about using different versions of Windows.

Windows 7
Windows 7
For me and lots of other people Windows 7 has been the best operating system Microsoft has built yet. I think Windows Vista was a little bit of setback for Microsoft but Windows 7 brought many improvements. The interface and taskbar is one of my favorite parts of using this version of Windows. It’s simply because of pinned programs using large, easy-to-see icons. This helped me to access my apps and programs. Other than that the interface was surprisingly refreshed and it looks much better than the older version in Windows XP. Theme packages also makes a lot easier to change the look of Windows 7. One of the big additions I liked about Windows 7 was the Control Panel. You can access the control panel and change or create themes to personalize your desktop. There are many applications that you install, but Windows Live gives you the chance to install programs such as Media Payer, DVD Maker, Windows Mail, and Windows Photo Gallery. To sum up I should say that I really enjoyed using Windows 7, because of Its improvements and the fact that it was simple and easy to work with.
Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1
I decided to talk about Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 8 because it is the updated version of Windows 8 and also it adds many useful fixes. Windows 8.1 has a new start button, better searching and a much-improved app store. It is pretty easy to upgrade to Windows 8.1. You can upgrade your version of Windows by going to store and Installing Windows 8.1. Other than the fixes made to improve windows 8.1 the start menu bothers me and lots of other people. I didn’t see anything wrong with windows 7 start menu but for some other people it’s easier to view their apps because of the resizing option.Overall, I really liked the tweaks, features and updates for Windows 8.1. But the start menu wasn’t as good as the Windows 7 start menu which made it hard to access the apps directly from the desktop.
Windows 10
windows10
I was surprised when Microsoft introduced Windows 10 as a free upgrade for most of the users but the me and many other people were doubtful about whether they should upgrade or not. I saw many features added to this version of Windows. The best improvement to me was the return of the start menu which is similar to Windows 7. Also you have the choice to resize the menu, apps and taskbar more freely. The one feature I was waiting for was the virtual desktops. you can create virtual desktops and have multiple desktops open at the same time. Cortana is one my favorite features to use. It is basically a personal assistant that helps you find things on your PC, manage and add dates to your calendar, search files, and tell jokes . To conclude I have to say my experience with windows 10 was brilliant. It was so easy to use and there were some great improvements in terms of performance and security. I definitely recommend Windows 10 to people who have older versions of Windows.
